- Diarrhoea is the second most common cause of child deaths worldwide. (www.who.int)
- Over 80% adult illiteracy traps people in poverty.

How iTeach Helps
iTeach is a Smartphone App which allows local ‘teachers’ such as the health worker, the literacy teacher or the agricultural expert, create simple lessons combining images, audio and text.
Lessons are created in the context and language of the community they are intended for and are transferred between Smartphones without the need for Internet or data bundles.
Impact on the Community
iTeach empowers communities to help themselves. For example, health lessons can be created by the local health professional and transferred to young mothers on subjects such as ‘how to prevent diarrhoea in children’ or education to young men and women on sexually transmitted infections.
Local experts in agriculture or honey harvesting for example, can create lessons which will help a family develop a sustainable source of income.

The iTeach Concept
Anywhere in the World
iTeach can be used by communities anywhere in the world. Once downloaded from the Play Store, a teacher can register for an account, which will be approved by the community leaders. Once approved, the teacher will be able to create lessons using the intuitive interface.
Others in the community download iTeach from the Play Store and use it in student mode. The ‘teachers’ transfer relevant lessons to the ‘students’ Smartphone, giving them independence to learn away from the classroom and at their own pace.
Use Cases
Health Promotion
Health lessons can be created by the local health professional and transferred to young mothers on subjects such as ‘how to prevent diarrhoea in children’ or education to young men and women on sexually transmitted infections.
Agricultural Best Practice
Best practice lessons can be transferred to a farmer’s phone as he buys seed from the local supplier. The best practice is in the language that he understands with audio included if he cannot read. Following this best practice, the farmer can increase his yield significantly.
Adult Literacy
iTeach will enhance literacy skills, with simple literacy lessons being transferred onto learners smartphones OFFLINE. This allows learners to revise the content of the lessons at their own pace and in their own time.
Evangelism
iTeach will allow greater uptake of the local language version of the Bible and make Bible translation more viable.
Small Business Know How
Local experts in agriculture or honey harvesting for example, can create lessons which will help a family develop a sustainable source of income.
Offline Information Transfer
An increasing number of people have smart phones, but often no money to buy credit or data, therefore, content being transferred OFFLINE is invaluable. This increases accessibility to knowledge transfer for the large number of people at the bottom of the economic human pyramid.
